8 Stylish Villains Hampering our Happiness

I am sure that each one of us have faced difficult times either in work, personal life or during school days which prevented us from achieving our goals. This difficult times helps us to understand and identify what went wrong.
Let’s get little stylish by naming such feelings or events or people as “The Villain”. This article focuses on an important point of identifying what that Villain is and conquering it with courage and determination. Some of the most observed villains people found fighting with are :
  • Fear Of Failure:
Most of the people are afraid of failing and as a result they are hesitant to accept challenges. 'What if I don't succeed?', 'What will people say?', 'What will my friends/colleagues/relatives think?', 'How will I face my parents?' are some of the reasons why people surrender to this villain and do not do things that they want as they are unsure of succeeding in it.
Often, valuable insights come only after a failure. Accepting and learning from those insights is key to succeeding in life. Failure can also teach  things that one  would never have learned otherwise. For instance, failure can help you discover how strong a person you are. Failing at something can help you discover your truest friends, or help you find unexpected motivation to succeed.

Always look at the worse-case scenario -  In some cases, the worst case scenario may be genuinely disastrous, and it may be perfectly rational to fear failure. In other cases, however, this worst case may actually not be that bad, and recognizing this can help.

Have a contingency plan  - If you're afraid of failing at something, having a "Plan B" in place can help you feel more confident about moving forward.
  • Laziness/Procrastination:
Most of the people  waste many hours just thinking about what they should be doing rather than doing that. Procrastination is the most common way people today waste their time and energy.  Procrastination has been called the thief of time, opportunity’s assassin, and the grave in which dreams are buried.
But there's a way out.
Force yourself to do that work rather than endlessly making plans about how you'll proceed. The best way to get something done is to begin.

  • Wrong Attitude:
Most of the people have the wrong attitude when they set out to accomplish a task. Ideal attitude should be that ‘I can do it’ instead of  'I can do it better than that person'. At least the right attitude should be that ‘I can do it better than last time’. One should not do any work just for the sake of doing it or with the hopes of receiving praises, appraisals on its completion, instead, one should devote completely to any task and do it for the sheer pleasure of seeing it getting completed, rather than for the praise.
Look in the Mirror……, That’s your competition….
  • Energy Vampires:
This is relatively a new word. Energy vampires are the ones who have the ability to drain all your energy or have the power to change your thoughts into negative one. They can  be anyone: relatives, colleagues,  friends or any other person in one’s life and it's difficult to realize how and when they can drain of all the energy.

Anybody who discourages you from achieving your goals or hinders your path of growth by distracting you from your goal is a villain in your life and is not a person you should be spending time with. Save your time and energy for people who deserve it!
Don’t let negative & Toxic people rent space in your head. Raise the rent & kick them out.
  • Distractions:
As they say, we live in a world where phones are becoming 'smart' and people are becoming 'dumb'.
Just try to imagine one day without your smartphone: you would probably be unable to recall your to-do list, find where you need to go, and keep up with boredom.
Now remember how much you over-spent on music, travel, movies, and food 10 years ago, and how limited our knowledge of anything was before Google and Wikipedia. On the one hand, our life is now more efficient, cheaper, simpler and faster thanks to the rise of apps and 24-7 connectivity.

We are dumb because we do not have any control over lives about the time we our going to give in to distractions. The TV, internet, smartphones all are good if you put them to good use, but they are equally good energy suckers if you let them rule over your mind.

  • Jealousy/Competition:
Another villain we can all associate to, having experienced it first-hand is jealousy. If you want to do something just because your neighbour/friend/relative/colleague has done it, then you are already on your path to downfall.

A healthy competition is good, but one should always try to compete with only their own self.  Instead one should try to not be jealous but be “Territorial”.
Jealousy is when you want something that’s not yours and territorial is protecting what’s already yours.
Jealousy is just a lack of self-confidence. Don’t let jealousy fool you. It’s just another name for insecurity.
  • Expectations:
We have all faced this villain in our lives. Most of us have lost relations either because we expected something from the other person, or the other person had expectations from us, which did not come to pass.
Do well, but do not expect it back. The best way to avoid disappointment is to not expect anything from anyone.
  • Judgmental Nature:
We are all judgmental. Yes, even you. And yet, while it is in our nature to be judgmental, I don’t think it’s always useful to us. We look down on others, as if we are so much better … and that creates division between people.

Think about it for a second: we see someone, and based on their looks or actions, we pass judgment on them. Mostly it's not good judgment, either and usually without even knowing the person. We don’t make an effort to get to know the person, or understand them, or see whether our judgment was right or not.

And let’s consider what happens when we pass judgment on people we do know. We see something they do, and get angry at it, or disappointed in the person, or think worse of them. We judge, without understanding. Just because the other person has different ideals than you does not mean that he/she is bad. Often in life, we lose people because we are critical about the way they are.
Celebrate uniqueness!  Avoid passing judgment and instead build a bridge between two human beings.
  • Conclusion :

Before leaving i would like to bring one more villain though, that is common to all of us, it is present in each and every human, and how good one's life is or becomes depends on whether or not he or she is able to conquer it. Any guesses….
Well that villain is 'YOU'. You yourself are your own savior and your own destroyer; you can conquer all of the above or none of these depending on how you feed your villains. If you starve them, they'll disappear from your life, if you don't they'll always be there to hamper your progress or lead you astray. Each one of us has a devil residing inside of us, don't let it take control of your mind. The real battle lies within.
Man creates both his god and his devil in his own image. His god is himself at his best, and his devil himself at his worst. The real battle is inside our mind.
By taking the appropriate steps to eliminate the vampires from your life, you’ll be using your actions to improve the quality of your life. This will increase your personal power, which you can then use to create more beauty, awesomeness, and light for yourself and others.
